XProTex Batting Gloves Review

The REAKTR and the STRYKR

There are a couple of XproTex batting gloves that I mentioned in my initial review that I want to share with you now. The folks at XProTex have sent me the REAKTR and the STRYKR models to test out and review, so I'll give it my best shot here.

Disclaimer: I was not paid to give this review. Any opinions I share here are strictly my own.

XProTex is a company that uses cutting edge technology and claims to push the boundaries of sports protection to prevent career ending injuries sustained to the bones in the hand. I mentioned in my first review that I was extremely impressed with the quality of these batting gloves, and my opinion has not changed.

In fact, after trying out two more of their products, I am even more impressed. They are the REAKTR and the STRYKR. They are not batting gloves, but rather "fielding" gloves. No, not the typical fielder's glove, but a glove to wear underneath your standard glove for extra protection to your palm, hand, and wrist on your glove hand.

The REAKTR is designed for any position, and the STRYKR is designed especially for catchers. They are both sold individually, and not in pairs like traditional batting gloves.

Both gloves feature a 5mm gel pad on the palm which is extremely nice because we have all felt the bruising that comes from taking a hard thrown ball right in the palm. (Especially in glove with little padding).

REAKTR

REAKTRThe REAKTR is a basic glove that uses a soft and comfortable leather known as "Pittard's Cabretta", as mentioned on the XProTex website. Other than the soft gel pads in the palm, it has the same Advanced Impact Composite (A.I.C.) material that is used in the RAYKR and other batting gloves. The A.I.C. material on the REAKTR is located on the bottom side of the wrist to protect it from bad hops or misjudged grounders. (Disregard my 13 year old beat up Trapeze in the picture). The REAKTR retails for about $25 from various retailers.

STRYKR

STRYKRThe other XProTex glove I got was the STRYKR model. This glove serves the same purpose as the REAKTR, but is specifically designed for catchers. As you can see from the pictures, it not only has the A.I.C. on the bottom of the wrist, but also on top of the hand to protect the catcher from getting hit on the backswing.

Not being a catcher, I've never had the pleasure of getting hit on the hand from a backswing, but I'm sure it feels great...yeah sure. Now you have an extra layer of protection. And like the REAKTR it has has the 5mm palm padding as well. It retails for around $35.

Summary

Once again, like the other XProTex batting gloves I reviewed in my first article, I've been very impressed with the quality and construction of the gloves. The REAKTR and STRYKR are no different.

I've used the REAKTR in some of my games and I like the added confidence I get from the peace of mind of not fearing a bone shattering injury to the wrists. Are the XProTex fielding gloves going to give you a huge advantage on your competition, and help you perform better on the field? That's not a guarantee, but what they do give you is added confidence and peace of mind when you step on the field. Like the other XProTex batting gloves, if you can make some room in your budget for these fielding gloves, don't hesitate to get yourself one.
