My latest purchase was one of the TPX baseball gloves from Louisville Slugger. Just like their bats, Louisville Slugger makes an excellent glove, and I would highly recommend them.
The latest of the Louisville gloves feature something called the Flare design.
The new "Flare" design by Louisville has a deep, flat pocket and extra wide lacing for added strength. Combined with the Horween leather (Horween is a very high quality producer of leather), they are quickly broken in. These gloves made their debut in 2007, and according to the Lousiville Slugger website, it is the fastest growing infield glove pattern in collegiate and professional baseball.
The design came in response to a study that found many professional players breaking in gloves opposite than the traditional way. Instead of putting a ball in the pocket and tying it shut, they were pressing the palm and the fingers inside out, in an attempt to make a larger and more flat surface to catch the ball. This concept was the inspiration of the Flare design.
This design also makes it easier for infielders to make the exchange between glove hand and ball hand. There are three of the 2008 Flare series gloves specifically designed after three Major League players: Chone Figgins, Jhonny Peralta, and Juan Uribe.
Other series' from Louisville are the Pro Series, Omaha Pro Series, and Omaha Select Series, all of which are high quality products. Louisville's gloves have a great reputation and in my opinion rank in the same class as Rawlings and Mizuno.
