I have used both the Personal Pitcher and the Sandlot Slugger mini wiffle ball pitching machines and to be honest the Slugger is well worth the extra money. The Personal Pitcher is inconsistent in both pitch speed and location and many of the pitches are no where near the strike zone. This can be very frustrating when all you are doing is retrieving balls that you never even had a chance to hit.
The Slugger throws much harder which allows you to stand further from the machine and throws strikes most of the time even when standing further away. With the variable feeder speed it is much easier to get into a rhythm when hitting and it is not uncommon to be able to hit pitch after pitch (my slugger is older and does not have the timing light).
In short, when the Slugger has run out of balls I usually retrieve most of them from the "outfield" but when the Personal Pitcher runs out of balls most of them are around or behind home plate.
