Sandlot Slugger Wiffle Ball Pitching Machine Review

The Sandlot Slugger, from Sports Products USA is another one of the mini-wiffle ball pitching machines, much like the Personal Pitcher and the Grand Slam. The Sandlot Slugger is a wiffle ball pitching machine that pitches the mini golf ball sized balls. The balls sit in a bucket, and are fed between two wheels that spit the balls out to the hitter. It has a capacity to hold 100 balls, is available in a 4 or 7 hour battery model, and does throw curveballs, in addition to straight pitches.

The Sandlot Slugger positions itself against the "competition" in the following ways by claiming...

  • It throws faster, using a more powerful motor.
  • It is built more rugged, and not flimsy.
  • Has a longer battery life, claiming it is a "true" cordless machine.
  • It comes with a built-in stand that allows you to sit the machine on the ground, and angle the pitches up toward the hitter, eliminating the need for the tripod (but does still include a connector for a tripod).

Where the Personal Pitcher does have the Slugger beat is in the price arena. Right now, the Sandlot Slugger (4 hour battery) sells for $199. The comparable model of the Personal Pitcher sells for $149. These are the prices from the official websites, but better deals are available on eBay directly from each company that include balls, tripods, etc.

Anyway, as of now, it does appear that the Sandlot Slugger is a viable alternative to the Personal Pitcher if you are willing to spend a few more bucks. I am unable to get involved with recommending either one of the machines over the other. I have used the Personal Pitcher, but haven't used the Sandlot Slugger.

As always please leave your reviews if you have them.
