Gregg,

Thanks for your question. As you may have noticed, Little League does not post their rules online for the general public's viewing. They just want you to buy their rulebook to have it shipped to you. A little frustrating to say the least. I don't have a rule book myself so I consulted some of my colleagues on another forum.

Little League DOES NOT have a rule regarding the maximum drop for bats. The bat must say that it is legal for Little League, a Bat Performance Factor (BPF) of 1.15 or less, and is not dented or modified in any way.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Little League Rules

To all of my readers who have read this and experienced "arguments and headaches" over my answer to this question I apologize. I never meant to mislead anyone.

Bottom line...check the rule book.

check the rule book

Your article said bats cannot be dented in any way. That is NOT what the LL 2010 Rule Book says. It says that non-wooden bats can develop dents over time and if that bat cannot pass thru the approved Little League Bat Ring, only then is it illegal to use.

You should check the rule book more carefully before you put incorrect information out there that will surely cause arguments and headaches. I'm sure someone that knows the rule will get into an argument with someone that says, "I read it online. No dented bats."

Very sloppy reporting.
