How do you clean a composite baseball bat?

my son has a DeMarini CF3Black -8 bat that is in need of cleaning. Soap and warm water will not do the trick, as recommended by the manufacturer. What do you feel is the best way to clean the barrel of all of the batting tee "smudges" and dirty baseball marks without harming the finish/graphics of the bat?
