Easton Baseball Bats of 2012

Power Brigade Lineup of S1, XL1, and More

Easton's baseball bats of 2012 have been marketed as their "Power Brigade" lineup. They feature six main models, each with a slightly different feel. The "S" or "Speed" models all give you a balanced swingweight, while the "XL" models give you an end-loaded feel.

Easton markets the Speed bats for the contact hitter who likes the feel of a lighter bat favoring bat speed, while the XL bats are for power hitters who want an extra long sweet spot, stiff handle, and prefer a heavier feel. The S models have black barrels, while the XL barrels are white.

Note: Comparable models listed are similar in construction and price.

S1

2012 Easton S1 Bat
S1 Adult -3
Senior League -10
Youth -12
  • 2-piece model
  • All composite material
  • Balanced swingweight
  • Comparable model: DeMarini CF5

The S1 and XL1 both use Easton's classic "ConneXion" technology. In other words, the bat is constructed as two pieces and "connects" in the middle between barrel and handle. Both are all composite and use the classic IMX composite material prevalent in Easton's composite bats in the past couple years. Price in late 2011 is $400 for the adult BBCOR, $300 for senior league, and $230 for youth models.

XL1

XL1 Adult -3
Senior League -5
Senior League -8
Youth -10
  • 2-piece model
  • All composite material
  • End-loaded swingweight
  • Comparable model: DeMarini CF5

Same price on the XL1 as the S1, except this one features a larger barrel, higher swingweight, stiff handle, and a heavier feel. There is a -5 and a -8 senior league model as well.

S2

2012 Easton S2 Bat
S2 Adult -3
Senior League -10
Youth -13
  • 2-piece model
  • Composite handle, aluminum alloy barrel
  • Balanced swingweight
  • Comparable models: DeMarini Voodoo, Anderson NanoTek, Nike MC2, Nike Fuse

The S2 and XL2 also have the same differences as the S1 and XL1, but the "2s" are hybrids, not purely composite. The same IMX material is used in the handles, but Easton's THT100 aluminum alloy is used in the barrels. This is the same alloy that was used in the Rival model from last year. Pricing for the adult model is $300, senior league is $260, and youth is $200.

XL2

XL2 Adult -3
Senior League -8
Youth -11
  • 2-piece model
  • Composite handle, aluminum alloy barrel
  • End-loaded swingweight
  • Comparable models: DeMarini Voodoo, Anderson NanoTek, Nike MC2, Nike Fuse

Same pricing as S2, but larger sweet-spot, stiff handle, and a heavier feel (swingweight).

S3

S3 Adult -3
Senior League -10
Senior League -10 Big Barrel
Youth -13
  • 1-piece model
  • All aluminum alloy material
  • Balanced swingweight
  • Comparable models: Louisville Omaha, Marucci CAT5

The S3 and XL3 are all aluminum models, using the same THT100 alloy. Same differences between the S and XL models as mentioned on the above models. There is also a 2-3/4" barrel option for the senior model. Prices are $200 for adult and senior league models, and $160 for the youth.

XL3

XL3 Adult -3
Senior League -5
Senior League -9
Youth -11
  • 1-piece model
  • All aluminum alloy material
  • End-loaded swingweight
  • Comparable models: Louisville Omaha, Marucci CAT5

Same as S3 but stiff handle, end-loaded feel, and larger sweet-spot. The prices are $200 for the adult, -5, and -9 senior league models. $160 for the youth, and $120 for the 2-3/4" big barrel option.

Reflex

2011 Easton Reflex Bat
Reflex Adult -3
Senior League -8.5
Youth -13
  • 1-piece model
  • All aluminum alloy material
  • Balanced swingweight
  • Comparable models: Rawlings 5150 Alloy, Rawlings Plasma, Louisville Warrior

While Easton does its part to stay atop the big ticket competition, they still don't fail to offer their low-price option. The Reflex for 2012 is for those on a budget. It uses the same 7050 Aircraft alloy used in the previous Reflex models. This year's Reflex uses a patent pending technology called Brace Barrel. It helps achieve pop, while still maintaining BBCOR performance. Price is $90 for the adult model, less for senior and youth models.
