It looks as though Easton has pretty much stayed with the same technology that has worked so well for them over the last couple of years. What they have done new is give their bats a makeover, modified some of their names, features, and designed a new composite bat that is approved for NCAA play.

Stealth II Regular Flex, Stiff Flex, & BSS3

The Stealth IIs are the same as the Stealth 75 and 95 from the 2010 Easton baseball bats with a different paint job. The Regular Flex is the same as the Speed 75, and the Stiff Flex is the Speed 95 from last year. Obviously, the Regular Flex has a "regular" amount of flex in the handle, while the Stiff Flex model has a stiffer handle. They are both 2-piece, all composite models that use Easton's IMX composite, and ConneXion (CXN) technologies.

Another interesting fact is that Easton has designed a composite bat that is approved for NCAA play in 2010. The previous two Stealth models are the BSS1 and BSS2. The NCAA approved model is a 2-piece, all composite model and is simply known as the Stealth Speed Adult BSS3. You'll notice that all of the 2011 models have white grips on them instead of the BSS3.

As of this writing (July 2010), Baseball Express is running a closeout deal and offering the Stealth II models for only $300 for the adult models, as opposed to the usual $400 that most companies charge for their front runners. The senior models are also $300.

Surge XL Ozone

The Surge XL is the same as the SV12 from last year in that it is a 2-piece hybrid model, using the IMX composite technology for the handle, with the V12 Scandium alloy for the barrel. This year however, they have made the barrel slightly longer than the SV12 from last year, hence the "XL" added to the name. It also uses Easton's Ozone technology. This model is only available in the adult category and costs $300.

Rival XL Ozone

The Rival XL is a 1-piece all aluminum model that is similar to last year's V12. It obviously uses Easton's V12 Scandium alloy, as well as their Ozone technology. The claim is that this bat has the largest sweet spot of all the aluminum bats in baseball. Like the Surge, this model also uses the Ozone technology. This year the Rival is only available in the senior league category, with drops of -5, -9, and -10 ounces. They all run at $180.

Stealth Speed II XL

The Stealth Speed II XL is the same as last year's Stealth Speed XL model. It's an all composite 2-piece design that has the same extended barrel as last year's model. The only difference is this year, they've reduced the drop from -10 to -12. It's the same bat, but 2 ounces lighter than last year and a new paint job. It uses Easton's IMX composite technology throughout the entire bat. The Speed II XL runs at $200.

Summary

Check out Easton's official website for more information.

Considering that there were so many people pleased with last years' models from Easton, I don't think they've really tampered with their bats a whole awful lot. If you're looking to purchase one of the 2011 vs. 2010 Easton baseball bats, a lot of your decision making may come down to paint jobs. Which ones look snazzier? Most of the technology is still the same. If you're interested in reading user reviews click on the links below the pictures above.
