Composite bats and cold weather

by Harry

I have heard that composite bats cannot be used in cold weather because they will break. Is this true?

To a great degree, composite bats are more ridgid in cold weather (under 60). We have seen bats crack with kids using them early in season with very cold weather for baseball. I have my boys go to alloy under 60. Composite has become illegal for use on many levels. Until that changes (not soon), we have boys using the alloy bats to get accustom to them as they prepare for high school and beyond. BBCOR will provide for teaching lessons where boys can't cheat with form and still get same results with respect to powerful shot.
