BATA pitching machines, although not as prevalent as the Jugs or Atec brand, are another producer of very high quality and heavy duty pitching machines on the market. The BATA company was founded in the early 1990s and according to their website, their pitching machines are often used by many Major League teams.

They also claim that with the use of their Goodyear Rubber Soft Tread tires, their machines are much more accurate than the competition. Their website also lists all the reasons why they claim they are better than Jugs or Atec. Here is a summary of these reasons.
Note: I am not endorsing the use of the BATA pitching machines over Jugs or Atec. I'm just stating why BATA claims that they are more superior.
According to BATA, the wheels on their machines produce a much more accurate pitch. They say that while the wheels are spinning on the Jugs machine, they actually have a tendency to bow out a little bit and become rounded on the edges where it comes into contact with the ball. And it gets worse the faster the wheel spins. This rounded edge causes the ball to shoot out of the machine less accurately. The BATA wheels are supposed to stay the same shape throughout all the speed ranges.
The Atec models actually have a concave wheel, and a very thin tread. This doesn't allow them to pitch actual baseballs because there isn't enough compression on the ball. The BATA pitching machine models are actually designed to throw real baseballs.
Another interesting feature is the Toggle Manual Pitch Selector on the 2Pitch3 model. It allows the person feeding the ball to secretly switch what pitch the machine will throw without the batter knowing. You're supposed to be able to switch from a 95 mph fastball to a 75 mph curveball, with just the switch of a toggle selector. This will challenge the hitter's timing, just like a real pitcher would and creates a more realistic hitting experience. Jugs or Atec do not have this feature.
The BATA 2 pitching machine is their best selling model. It is supposed to be 1/3 times lighter than the Jugs Curveball model. And once again, it is designed to throw real baseballs unlike Atec.
Bottom line, don't just blindly consider only the Jugs or Atec brand just because they are a little more prevalent in baseball. BATA seems to have some possible advantages over the other brands, and they should definitely be atop your prospective list of pitching machines. Ask around the ballparks, and see if anyone has used one before, and what they know about them. I know I would.
