One of the Anderson baseball bats features something this year that they never did before...composite material. Formerly a producer of all aluminum alloy models, this year Anderson has introduced a hybrid model into their lineup with, of course, several other all aluminum models.
Note: Comparable models listed are similar in construction and price. They are listed to aid in shopping comparisons. Prices quoted are taken before the 2012 season.
Nanotek XS Adult -3 NanoTek XT Senior -5 NanoTek XP Youth -10 NanoTek XP Youth -12 |
The Nanotek is the high-end model this year from Anderson available in every category. It's the hybrid model with a composite handle. The Nanotek incorporates several of Anderson's technologies. First is the LaunchPad barrel, which is a combination of their NanoMetal alloy, the large barrel of the NanoTek, and the fact that they have redistributed mass on the bat to give it a low M.O.I. You also have the Acoustic Enhancement Technology (AET), which is designed to reduce the "ping" sound typically associated with aluminum bats. According to Anderson, this ping sound is actually energy that is wasted during contact with the ball. AET uses foam (developed by NASA) is placed inside the barrel to absorb the energy. Next there is the TaperFlex Contour between the handle and the barrel. The purpose of this technology is to reduce vibration. The wall is designed just right to absorb vibration and minimize energy loss during contact. Others are the Ultra-Thin Whip Handle, the Weldless Knob, and TrueFlex End Cap.
Price is $300 for the adult BBCOR model, $300 for the senior league model, and $280 for the youth model. This makes the Nanotek the highest priced youth model for a 2-piece hybrid design.
KXT Senior -5 |
The KXT uses Anderson's K-Series alloy, standing for Kinetic X-change. It uses a shape that is supposed to optimize the M.O.I. to get a very light swingweight, however not sacrificing the strength if the Effective Hitting Area (EHA). The KXT senior model is $250.
Ignite XS Adult -3 |
While competing with several other manufacturers, the Ignite XS is Anderson's new model for 2012. It uses much of the same technology as the Nanotek, except for the LaunchPad barrel. It does however, still use the Acoustic Enhancement Technology (AET), TaperFlex Contour, TrueFlex End Cap, Ultra-Thin Whip Handle, and the Weldless Knob. It also has many of the traits of the K-Series bats in that it is advertised as having a low swingweight. The adult model is priced at $200.
Techzilla XP Youth -9 |
All other bats mentioned on this page are single-wall aluminum models. The Techzilla is a multi-wall aluminum model. The technologies unique to the Techzilla are the Internal PowerArch Technology and the Groove Assembly System. The PowerArch technology represents their multi-wall design. The bat contains an arched internal sleeve at the barrel that is supposed to give the alloy better strength while maintaining a low swingweight. The youth model runs at $200.
KSP Youth -11 |
The KSP is similar to the other K-Series bats, such as the KXT mentioned earlier in this article. The KSP youth model runs at a price of $200.
